GENERAL LEAD SEATTLE WORLD'S FAIR

News from Century 21

SEATTLE, JUNE 6 — As they say in baseball, it was an "open date" on the schedule of special events at the Seattle World*s Fair today, but the big show continued to pack the crowds in and a new series of state honor days begins Thursday.

Kansas steps into the World's Fair limelight tomorrow, then its salute Indiana on Friday, Georgia Saturday, South Dakota Sunday, Missouri Monday, and Nevada Tuesday.

Between now and the "howdy podnah" to Nevada, the Fair is expected to have counted its two-millionth paid admission since opening day April 21.

But in the meantime, it was business as usual today with the Japanese Pearl Divers, imported directly from the land of the Rising Sun and the Schulmerich Carillon bells attracting Fair visitors.

Gracie Hansen held her High Noon Fashion Show in Paradise International.

And Fairgoers were kept somewhat breathless by the high-wire antics of Circus Berlin in the Stadium. Three performers walked, without incident, upon a tight-wire extended between the north and south roofs of the Stadium.

And Circus Berlin provided music and comedy and exciting high trapeze acts, too.

The Fair is looking forward to many Honor State days, but yesterday was a doubleheader, with North Dakota and Hawaii sharing the honor seat.

At 11 a.m., it was North Dakota Day in the Plaza of the States and North Dakota Gov. William L. Guy played the principal role along with Washington State Gov. Albert D. Rosellini.

And at 7 p.m. Hawaii Gov. William Quinn represented his state and was greeted by Gov. Rosellini in the Plaza.

Both governors otherwise were kept occupied on the Fairgrounds throughout the day.
