GENERAL LEAD SEATTLE WORLD'S FAIR
SEATTLE, July 7 — The star of the 49th State in the Union, Alaska, shown brightest at the Seattle World's Fair today.
It was Alaska Day and on hand with 100 Far North residents to back him was Gov. William Egan to accept the Fair's and the state of Washington's welcome in traditional ceremonies at the Plaza of the States.
Today also marked the end of U.S.A. Week at the Fair.
Following Gov. Egan's press conferonce at 9:30 a.m., the Alaska chief executive officially dedicated the Alaska Pavilion at 10 a.m. The Plaza ceremony followed at 11:30.
FOUR GENERATIONS ATTENDED ALASKA CEREMONY
SEATTLE, July 7 — Four generations of an Alaska family were on hand today at the Plaza of the States at the Seattle World's Fair when Alaska was feted as Honor State of the day.
Heading the clan was Alaska pioneer Sam Paul, Sr., 88, of Juneau.
His daughter, Mrs. James B. Vaughn, formerly of Juneau but now of Seattle, was with him, as well as his granddaughter, Mrs. George Patsy of Seattle.
Rounding out the foursome will be Mrs. Patsy's youngsters, Bryce, 5, and Denise, 4.
