Dedication of the 2nd Lake Washington Floating Bridge, August 28, 1963
It was a warm and cloudy summer day when several thousand people gathered at the Toll Plaza at the east end of the new 2nd Lake Washington Floating Bridge.
We're looking at the western interchange with the Seattle Freeway or Interstate 5. Just follow the ribbon of concrete across Lake Washington to the toll plaza. Originally opened as a toll bridge (thus the need for the Toll Plaza) the bridge carried enough traffic and collected enough money that tolls were removed in 1979.
